New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA)
has grant and fellowship programs for NYS artists and art organizations of all disciplines. NYFA also offers career development programs. Get on their mailing list! Artists and arts administrators and students can access arts and cultural jobs and opportunities by registering on-line with NYFA.

The American Music Center provides funding opportunities for musicians, composers, ensembles. They help performing artists create, produce, and perform their work, and manage and support their careers through various programs and workshops. They also publish a list of funding and production resources and performance and rehearsal spaces.

The Field helps performing artists create, perform and produce their work, and manage and support their careers through various programs and workshops. They offers seminars and workshops to arts and cultural organizations that explore arts management issues such as finding alternatives to traditional funding, cultural entrepreneurship and working with digital media. The also publish a list of funding and production resources, performance and rehearsal spaces.

The Experimental Television Center’s Media Arts Technical Assistance Fund is designed to help non-profit media arts programs in NYS strengthen organizational capacity, and address systemic issues within institutions and within the field. Presentation Funds provide support to NYS organizations for in-person appearances by film and media artists. The program brings innovative cinema programming, including independent film and new media, as well as sonic art to new audiences and to underserved communities in all regions of the state. Applications are accepted anytime. Finishing Funds provide completion awards to NYS’s artists for diverse and innovative projects in film, audio and video, and works for the Web and new media. The deadline is March 15 every year.

Independent Media Arts Presentation (IMAP) is a service, education and advocacy consortium. Organized in 1999, IMAP ensures the preservation of independent electronic media for cultural and educational use by future generations. IMAP is a clearinghouse for information on issues of preservation.

Poets & Writers, Inc. provides a wide range of services to literary artists & cultural organizations, including opportunities for cooperative programming.

Grant Writing Basics (download pdf) from the Queens Council on the Arts is an excellent “grant writing handbook” for artists and organizations. Well-written proposals increase your chance of getting a grant.
